Semi-Automated Storage & Retrieval Storage System (SAS / RS)
First ever Semi-Automated system(designed for Seismic Conditions) installed in Navneet Publications, Dantali, Ahmedabad in Jan. 2001.
The material to be stored is textbooks, which come in different varieties (depending on subjects and standards) and sizes.
The system has been designed considering the following parameters as the basis.
- High throughput in peak season.
- Maximum storage in small footprint area for better control of operations.

Brief Description of the Solution:
The SAS/RS installed at Navneet has the capacity to store 9744 pallets. The system is 100 mtrs long, 20 mtrs wide, and utilizes complete height of warehouse of 14.5 mtrs.
The storage is of double-deep type (one pallet behind the other). This ensures extremely dense storage without compromising on accessibility. The Pallets received from printing press, which is adjacent to the warehouse, are kept on the fixed station of the racking system with the help of Forklift.
The operator has the list of pallets to be stored in particular pallet locations as mentioned in the list, which is generated offline.
