Warehouse Management System (WMS) is the brain behind the total AS/RS. It takes care of the total management of the AS/RS as well the inventory management. Warehouse Management System consists of:
- Inventory Management: Total online inventory management of items entering the warehouse and the items moving out of the warehouse
- Events Management: Management of all the events, and logging error reports for respective events
- Handling Control Management: Total control of traffic as well the equipment, eg. stacker cranes, transfer cars and conveyors
- Location Management: Allotting free locations as well as maintaining status of the occupied locations
WMS also controls Conveyers, Autolifters, Miniload Systems, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVS), and other equipment. The WMS can be connected with an upper level host computer with ERP such as SAP, J. Edwards, etc.
