Work in process (WIP) offers the biggest challenge as its handling involves various complexities and severities. Moreover, solutions in these areas cannot be distinctly classified as Warehouse Applications and can fall under the area of Manufacturing/Operations.
Application areas
Handling of WIP involves multiple to-and-fro transactions between numerous processing nodes in the Plant, and the quantity need not necessarily be constant between set operations. For example, the textile industry poses the biggest challenge to be addressed. In fact, this no longer remains a warehousing solution but forms the heart of operations in the production line.
It is important that online MIS is maintained, which is in tandem with other operational MIS generated either through ERP or other custom built Systems/Software.
